Murray roars into last eight
Men's Tennis, 20:05, June 28, 2010 ,
Andy Murray has become the only man to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals without dropping a set after victory over Sam Querrey.
The British number one has rediscovered his form at SW19 after a few months of below-par tennis, which culminated in an early exit at Queen's to Mardy Fish.
The 23-year-old breezed through the first week at the All England Club without dropping a set and has now extended the streak to the start of week two with a 7-5 6-3 6-4 victory over the man who won a Queen's just a couple of week's ago.
Murray struggled in the first set and could easily have lost it but Querry fluffed his lines when provided with opportunities and the Scot hung on to take the lead.
He was never troubled again however and admitted that he was very pleased with the way he performed against a tricky opponent.
"It was a very good match," he told BBC Sport. "I had my chances at the end of first set, it was a huge point in the match because he had the momentum and I managed to nick it away from him. It's tough playing against someone with such a big serve.
"The shot-making today was great, especially towards the end of the first set. I played well, just a few dips in the performance."
He will now play France's 10th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals.
