Rafael Nadal claimed his 21st Masters title on Monday with a straight sets victory over Novak Djokovic in Rome.
The final was supposed to take place on Sunday but was postponed 24 hours due to the inclement weather in the Italian capital but it didn't appear to affect Nadal as, despite a shaky start, he cruised to a 7-5 6-3 straight sets victory. The win was the Spaniard's second consecutive win in a final against the world number one and it appears as if Djokovic's form may just be beginning to falter after he hit 41 unforced errors, including a double fault on the final point of the match. The victory sees Nadal leapfrog Roger Federer in the world rankings but, perhaps more importantly, he looks to be rediscovering his best form at the perfect time ahead of next week's French Open.
