Boro open talks with Turnbull
Middlesbrough, 11:24, November 11, 2008 ,
Middlesbrough have finally opened talks with number one goalkeeper Ross Turnbull over a new contract to keep him at the club.
The 23-year-old has been outstanding in the Boro goal all season and there has been a clamour from the fans for boss Gareth Southgate to open talks with the player in order to secure his future at the club.
Southgate, who is also expected to open talks with number two Brad Jones about his own contract in the near future, told the Gazette: "We have started to talk.
"Both goalkeepers are in the same position and both feel they have a future with us. We are starting to make progress. Discussions will be ongoing.
"Ross was shown more and more confidence as he continues to get games under his belt. He has responded to the challenge."
