Boro wait on quartet

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is waiting for updates on four of his injured players ahead of the Capital One Cup clash at Gillingham.

Marvin Emnes (foot), Joe Bennett (knee), Mustapha Carayol (hamstring) and Kevin Thomson (calf) will all be assessed prior to kick-off as Boro look to continue their good form. Mowbray's side have recorded back-to-back league victories and will be confident of reaching the third round against npower League Two opposition. Lukas Jutkiewicz (knee) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) will both miss the game but could be available for the weekend trip to Millwall. Midfielder Nicky Bailey is the only other absentee as he is sidelined for six weeks with a hamstring injury. Boro are unbeaten against lower league opposition in the League Cup for six years.
