Rhys Williams is earmarked to replace suspended Julio Arca as Boro look to bounce back from defeat to Watford against Derby tonight.
The former Sunderland star is suspended for one match after picking up his fifth booking of the season in Saturday's home loss to the Hornets.
Club captain Emanuel Pogatetz looks set to make his first appearance of the season, returning from a knee injury and possibly coming in to start in Seb Hines' place after he injured himself in training.
