French ace poised for Boro return

Middlesbrough, 14:31, October 16, 2009 ,

Didier Digard could be handed a start for Boro against Watford as Rhys Williams was not due to arrive back from Australia until Friday.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will assess the fitness of the 21-year-old, who was called up to Australia's squad for games against Holland and Oman in the international break. Williams did not play in either game but the fact he has just endured a 20-hour flight back from Down Under could see him jet-lagged for the visit of the Hornets to the Riverside on Saturday.
If Williams does not feature then fit-again French midfielder Digard will make his first start since the opening game of the season against Sheffield United when he suffered a groin injury.
Central defender Sean St Ledger has returned unscathed from the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Montenegro, while skipper Emanuel Pogatetz will not be risked, despite getting another 45 minutes under his belt for the reserves in midweek.
Leroy Lita's brace against Reading before the international break could see him stay in the starting XI with Jeremie Aliadiere and Marvin Emnes fighting it out to join him in attack.
