Fresh interest in Huth
Middlesbrough, 12:41, June 1, 2009 ,
German Bundesliga outfit Hannover are weighing up a possible summer swoop for Middlesbrough central defender Robert Huth.
The 24-year-old injury-prone German international defender, who has managed only 58 appearances for Boro since his arrival from Chelsea in a £6million deal in summer 2006, is set to be one of several high-profile big earning players to be offloaded following the club's relegation to the Championship.
And, after newly-crowned German champions Wolfsburg recently ended their interest in Huth after Alexander Madlung signed a new contract, Hannover have emerged as potential suitors for his signature. General manager Jorg Schmadtke admitted an interest, but confirmed talks with Boro have yet to begin.
"Of course, a player that represents his country is always an option for us as a club," Schmadtke told Neue Presse.
"Still, we are not in any advanced position regarding a transfer for Robert."
