Middlesbrough defender Justin Hoyte insists he has nothing to prove after belatedly extending his stay on Teesside.

The 27-year-old looked to be on his way out of the club when his four-year contract expired during the summer, but he has prospered since eventually signing a new deal on much-reduced terms.
Hoyte told the Evening Gazette: "I don't think I have got anything to prove, really. At the end of the day, from my point of view it's a case of giving back to the manager the faith he's shown in me.
"Last season, I played most of the games I was available for, so I don't think I have got anything to prove.
"It's for me to go out and play football the way I know how to play and hopefully that will bring success to the club and success to me personally.
"Just like any other footballer, I want to be successful. I want to play as much as I can."
