Hoyte settled into Boro life
Middlesbrough, 12:09, August 28, 2008 ,
New signing Justin Hoyte says he has settled into life at Middlesbrough because they adopt a similar style to his former club Arsenal.
The former England Under-21 international joined Boro in a £3million deal last week and managed a brief debut appearance in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Liverpool.
However following his full debut in the 5-1 Carling Cup win against Yeovil on Tuesday, Hoyte revealed how Boro's bid to produce attacking football has helped him get to grips with life at the Riverside.
"It was delightful to play in that kind of performance and obviously it was nice to get my first full game under my belt," he said.
"I thought I played alright but that the team as a whole performed very, well and so that made it easy for me to show what I could do.
"I came on at left-back late on at Liverpool and that was a tough start for me, not because of the position because I have played there for Arsenal before and am comfortable with it, but because it was a very tough game against a very good team at Anfield.
"But against Yeovil I was at right-back which is my natural position and where I am used to playing and I think I did well there but to be honest it is just nice to be out there wherever you are on the pitch."
He added: "I can see a lot of similarities between the way Boro play and Arsenal. At Arsenal we played a good passing game at a high tempo and that is exactly what Gareth Southgate wants from this side too.
"He wants his team to get forward quickly and pass the ball well in dangerous areas but also wants us to get back and to defend as a team when we haven't got the ball as well. Those similarities have maybe helped me settle in quickly here, although to be fair it has been easy to fit in."
