Injury worries for Boro
Middlesbrough, 09:15, May 22, 2009 ,
Middlesbrough go into their must win clash at West Ham on Sunday without England winger Stewart Downing and Gary O'Neil is a doubt.
England winger Downing is still waiting to see the full extent of his foot injury with differing reports suggesting he may be out for up to six months but he will certainly miss the clash at Upton Park.
O'Neil has a hamstring injury which is threatening to keep him out of the side, who must win at West Ham and then hope others slip up to have any chance of surviving the drop.
Gareth Southgate is already without striker Afonso Alves, and defensive duo Emanuel Pogatetz and Chris Riggott for the match. But he should be boosted by having left-back Andrew Taylor back from injury, while David Wheater should play despite requiring knee surgery in the summer.
