Keeper contract still unclear
Middlesbrough, 11:56, December 17, 2008 ,
Middlesbrough keeper Ross Turnbull has revealed that he and the club are still some way apart from agreeing a new contract.
Turnbull has excelled this season after being handed his first team chance by Gareth Southgate but he is out of contract at the end of the campaign, along with his understudy Brad Jones.
Although talks over a new deal have begun, Turnbull admits they are still some way from coming to an agreement.
Turnbull and Jones are both free to talk to interested parties in the new year and the number one's displays have ensured there are many of those but he remains confident that a deal can be reached.
"We have had talks. There has been nothing recently but I'm looking to get that sorted as soon as possible," he said.
"I'm not sure about Brad's talks. But we are not too far away from agreeing my deal, although I would not say we are close yet either.
"I just want it sorting as soon as possible. I want to stay.
"I have said that all the way along and I just hope it will get sorted sooner rather than later."
