Lamb looks to the future

Middlesbrough, 12:26, June 6, 2009 ,

Middlesbrough have not had any enquiries for the likes of Tuncay Sanli and Stewart Downing, according to chief executive Keith Lamb.

Lamb accepts last season's relegation to the Championship means Boro are unlikely to prevent their star players from asking to leave Teesside but that the likes of Turkey striker Tuncay, England winger Downing and goalkeeper Ross Turnbull will only be sold with manager Gareth Southgate's blessing.
Utility man Matthew Bates has also been linked with a move back to the Premier League but Lamb does not anticipate any transfer activity until towards the end of the month.
"It is too early to say who will be leaving and who will be staying," he said.
"It is that time of the season when if I look in a newspaper everyone is for sale, everyone is being tapped up.
"The only time we will comment on individuals is when we have a deal to announce and someone leaves."
