Mendieta happy with Boro move

Middlesbrough, 14:00, October 9, 2008 ,

Middlesbrough's former Spanish ace Gaizka Mendieta says he has no regrets about joining the club and revealed he still lives in the area.

Mendieta had the opportunity to return to Spain last season as the last year of his contract ran down and he was not getting a look in at first team level. Instead he chose to stay with the club and has yet to leave the area despite no longer having a contract.
The player, who at one time held the world record transfer fee when he moved from Valencia to Lazio in the summer of 2002 for £37m, said: "I love the British culture. I settled in pretty well since I played for Middlesbrough.
"I'm also here for personal reasons, living in Yarm."
