Mowbray welcomes competition for places
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has told his players they will simply have to deal with the disappointment of being left out of his starting line-up.
Mowbray has been boosted ahead of Saturday's npower Championship clash with Bolton at the Riverside Stadium by the return to training of Jonathan Woodgate, Justin Hoyte and Merouane Zemmama, and that means there will be increased competition for places. The manager told the club's official website, www.mfc.co.uk: "I disappoint players every week with my selection. The crux of football is generally their ability to deal with the disappointment and frustration. "As a footballer for 20 years, I know that managers do at times give you almost false hope. I don't like spinning stories to players. "Yet I think the players understand we have got a decent squad and everybody's going to play because the games are coming thick and fast."
