New Bhoy set for Boro debut
Middlesbrough, 14:06, January 29, 2010 ,
Stephen McManus is set to be pitched into the Middlesbrough side to face Bristol City on Saturday following his loan move from Celtic.
The 27-year-old central defender has become the fourth Bhoys player to be reunited with former Parkhead chief Gordon Strachan at the Riverside this month following on from Willo Flood, Chris Killen and Barry Robson. And McManus, who will stay on Teesside until the summer, is likely to partner David Wheater in the back line for the visit of the Robins this weekend.
Fellow defenders Chris Riggott and skipper Emanuel Pogatetz are both still missing with respective hamstring problems which will pave the way for McManus to replace Jon Grounds at centre-half.
Strachan could be tempted to start with the same side that won 4-1 at Doncaster on Tuesday, but he might be tempted to include midfielder Robson should he shake off the hamstring problem which has kept him out for two games since his debut at Sheffield United.
Jeremie Aliadiere, Rhys Williams and Isaiah Osbourne are all still struggling with the knocks which have kept him out recently.
