Jackett wins Championship manager award

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett is the npower Championship manager of the month for April.

The Lions chief oversaw a run of five wins and one draw from six games to comfortably ensure the London club's future in the second tier. Jackett told the club's official website: "This is great. Not just for me personally but for Millwall Football Club, too. "As a club we don't seem to get recognised that often, so it's a great honour to have won this award. It reflects very well on the players who put in such a strong finish to the season. "It is very special for me because although I have won this award before, it has never been as a Championship manager, so this is a first and I am honoured." Goalkeeper Maik Taylor, who kept four clean sheets in the six-game run, was pipped to the player of the month award by West Ham striker Ricardo Vaz Te.
