Millwall ace plays down exit rumours

Millwall, 16:26, August 4, 2009 ,

Zat Whitebread says he will be '100% committed' to Millwall should he fail to leave the Den before the transfer deadline day.

The former Liverpool defender has been linked with a move to a number of Championship clubs, including Peterborough and Swansea City, having been placed on the transfer list. But he has today reiterated his commitment to the Lions should a prospect suitor fail to emerge before August 31.
"It is out of my hands and up to the clubs to put the bids in, if that doesn't happen I am 100 per cent committed to Millwall," said Whitebread.
"If that doesn't go through I will just have to get on with it.
The American insists getting fit will now be his sole focus, having had his pre-season interrupted by a troublesome groin injury.
"First priority is to get playing again and to leave it to the powers that be, we will see what the future holds," he added.
However, Whitbread admits he would like the situation solved sooner rather than later.
"The club might not know whether to get players in, I would rather it was settled as soon as possible as the longer it goes on the more frustrating it gets for both parties."
