Shittu could secure early appearance

Millwall are likely to call on the services of defender Danny Shittu when they host Crawley in the Capital One Cup first round.

The experienced centre-half, who had a loan spell with the club in 2010, re-signed for the Lions earlier this week to ease their defensive problems. Tam Mkandawire is struggling with a knock whilst club captain Paul Robinson underwent double hernia surgery earlier this summer and is set to miss the start of the season. New signings Scott Malone and Karleigh Osbourne may also help out at the back should manager Kenny Jackett hand them a first competitive start at The New Den. Former Oldham winger Chris Taylor could also make his first bow in midfield having joined in the summer.
