Morecambe boss Jim Bentley promised a much better showing from his side next season after they closed this campaign with a 2-0 defeat at Gillingham.
Goals in each half from Charlie Lee secured the points for Gillingham, while Morecambe never really got going.
"We've had a lot of injuries over the season and for a club like ours, you can't really afford that, but we've managed to deal with that and I think it's been a good season overall," Bentley said.
"I've learned a lot this season, as have all the players and we've improved a great deal as a team. We've improved our points tally from last season and I think we've played better football than last year.
"Obviously it was disappointing to lose, but if you had asked me before the start of season would I have taken our current position, then I would have definitely taken it.
"My aim for next season now is firstly to make sure we stay in the league and then I want to improve on our points tally again, which I'm sure we can do."
