Brown says sorry to chairman

Motherwell, 13:42, January 19, 2010 ,

Interim boss Craig Brown has apologised to Motherwell chairman John Boyle following the club's Scottish Cup exit at Inverness.

Brown's second game in charge of Motherwell ended in a disappointing defeat as goals from Nauris Bulvitis and Dougie Imrie handed the Lanarkshire club a 2-0 fourth-round win.
The former Scotland boss revealed he spoke to the chairman before the match and admitted the defeat comes as a blow to the club, both on and off the pitch.
Brown said: "I feel really sorry for the club and for the chairman, who came back from his holiday in New Zealand to see that.
"It's not good to go out of the cup this early because the club could have made a lot of money from staying in the competition.
"I actually spoke to the chairman before the game and he told me that Motherwell's performances in the Scottish Cup in recent years have not been good, so I would like to apologise to him for not doing better."
