Players tired in Bairns loss - McGhee
Motherwell, 12:41, November 17, 2008 ,
Mark McGhee felt his Motherwell players were tired in the 1-0 defeat against Falkirk having held Rangers to a goalless draw in midweek.
Michael Higdon's 37th-minute goal proved enough to hand all three points to the Bairns and McGhee felt it was probably a fair result.
However he did hit back at 'Well fans who booed the substitution of stand-in captain Keith Lasley after the break.
He said: "I don't think we deserved anything. We looked lacking in energy and they had a wee bit more about them. They were better than us so no complaints.
"I'm not going to hark back to our missed chances, regardless of that I thought they edged it.
"One or two players said they weren't tired but Keith said he was very tired and he had a fantastic game the other night.
"He looked out on his feet and we wanted to get on another attack minded player."
On the booing, McGhee added: "As if I give a monkeys what they think.
"We were trying to win a football match that we were struggling to win, so it was totally the right decision. Keith didn't have any problems with it."
