Boss cites star as example

Newcastle United, 16:18, March 18, 2009 ,

Chris Hughton has hailed Ryan Taylor as an example to the United squad for how to react to being left out this week.

The January transfer window signing from Wigan Athletic was left out of the Magpies line-up for the first time at Hull City last weekend after his mistake gifted Man Utd their winner at St James' Park in the previous match.
But the 24-year-old, who had started every game since arrival, has impressed Hughton with his attitude to being benched in the midfield reshuffle at the KC Stadium.
The caretaker-boss has now assured Taylor that he has a big part to play during the club's survival run-in.
"He is part of a squad that is fighting for places," said Hughton.
"Unfortunately for him, he lost out at Hull, but Ryan is very much in our thoughts.
"I only have to look at his contribution since he came here to see how delighted we should be.
"His response has been very good.
"After the result at the weekend I couldn't fault anybody in training this week.
"It has been very good and very bright.
"It has been the right response."
