Fabricio Coloccini is Newcastle United's main worry ahead of Wednesday night's clash with Scunthorpe after suffering a dead leg.
The Argentine international suffered the injury during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough but boss Chris Hughton thinks the defender has a good chance of playing.
Meanwhile, full-back Danny Simpson has recovered from the knock he picked up at the Riverside Stadium but central defender Mike Williamson will be out for up to a month after breaking a bone in his hand while exercising at home.
Alan Smith (ankle) will not be risked but could come into contention for this weekend's game at Bristol City.
The Magpies also have Steven Taylor and Shola Ameobi in the hands of the physio as they receive treatment on a knee and hamstring problem respectively.
