Defender deal completed

Newcastle United, 12:21, July 28, 2010

Sol Campbell has completed his move to Newcastle and admitted he cannot wait to pull on the famous black-and-white jersey.

Campbell has penned a one-year deal with the Magpies after being released by Arsenal and the former England international has admitted he is thrilled with the move.
The 35-year-old snubbed several offers, including one from SPL giants Celtic, to join Chris Hughton's side and he is desperate to prove he can still be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League this season.
The former Tottenham and Portsmouth centre-back, who has been handed the No.5 shirt at St James' Park, said after completing the formalities of the deal: "At this stage of my career I couldn't have wished for a better move.
"To join a club such as Newcastle United, with its proud tradition, heritage and magnificent support, is absolutely tremendous for me.
"I just want to play and can't wait to get started.
"There's a real buzz about the place and that's great I've played at St James' Park numerous times and always found it a fantastic place to play, there's always a tremendous atmosphere."
