Mathieu Debuchy says he still wants to join Newcastle, despite Lille insisting he is not for sale this summer.

The Magpies are keen to bring the France international to St James Park but have struggled to agree a fee with Lille, who have now closed the door on a move away. Chairman Michel Seydoux has said the full-back is not for sale but that has not stopped the player dreaming of a move to Newcastle and hopes something can still be sorted out before the closure of the transfer window. "I don't want to talk about my future," he told Canal+. "I heard what the chairman said. The transfer window is open until September 4 (in France). I still want to go. We will see." Debuchy is good friends with Yohan Cabaye but it remains to be seen if the duo will get their wish of linking up together on Tyneside or whether the 26-year-old will be forced to stay at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole.
