Defender out for two months

Newcastle United, 17:17, July 25, 2010

Newcastle defender Steven Taylor will miss the first six weeks of the new Premier League season with a shoulder injury.

The Magpies have not yet commented on the severity of the problem suffered by the highly-rated centre-back during last Saturday's friendly win at Carlisle.
However, reports are surfacing suggesting Taylor dislocated his shoulder and has been ordered to rest for at least two months.
It's a devastating blow for the former England under-21 star who missed the second half of last season with knee ligament damage.
Liverpool, Blackburn and Stoke have all been linked with moves to sign him in recent months with his Magpies contract set to expire at the end of the season.
