French ace set to flee Magpies' nest
Newcastle United, 09:26, November 25, 2008 ,
Charles N'Zogbia will reportedly be offloaded in January in order to allow boss Joe Kinnear to bring several new faces to Newcastle.
Kinnear, who is in charge at St James's Park on an interim basis, is still planning to bolster the squad when the transfer window opens in the New Year. However with no buyer on the horizon, it is claimed current owner Mike Ashley has told him he must sell before he can buy any new players.
As a result Kinnear has already paved the way for several departures and it looks like 22-year-old N'Zogbia would be one of those to move out of the club in the New Year.
The Frenchman, who has asked for a move away from Tyneside in the past citing homesickness, has only featured in the starting XI once under Kinnear in his first game at the helm at Everton last month. And his prospects of regular action have been hit by the form of Jonas Gutierrez and the Damien Duff on the wings, while Nicky Butt, Joey Barton and Danny Guthrie have competed for the central midfield roles.
N'Zogbia's only current viable route to the starting XI is the left-back position due to Jose Enrique's struggle for form, but the player is reluctant to play in defence.
There have also been question marks raised about the player's attitude at the club, especially in his quest to quit in the past for a move to either Arsenal or Tottenham in London, despite claiming he was homesick for France.
N'Zogbia has now suggested Paris Saint-Germain are interested in taking him back to Ligue 1, while German Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in signing the former Le Havre player.
