Hot shot linked with switch

Newcastle United, 16:14, October 22, 2009 ,

Newcastle are keeping tabs on Norwegian striker Joakim Rudolfsen with a view to a January swoop.

Newcastle scouts have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old, who plays for Norwegian side Mo IL, and they have been impressed with what they have seen.
Rudolfsen would cost a nominal fee but Newcastle are not the only club showing an interest in him and Chris Hughton could face a battle for his services.
"Everybody here knows that Newcastle have been watching him," a source close to Mo IL told the Chronicle. "They are not alone though as many of the top clubs here in Norway also like the look of him.
"He's progressed very quickly in a short space of time. English football is huge here in Norway and both the Premier League and the Championship are screened live here so he would need no introduction to the English game.
"Any youngster from this part of the world would jump at the chance to play in England, especially at a club like Newcastle."
