Hughton confident of Toon survival
Newcastle United, 13:25, February 18, 2009 ,
Chris Hughton believes he has the experience needed to keep Newcastle up but admits it will be the biggest challenge of his career.
The Toon currently find themselves five points above the drop zone as they head towards the conclusion of the season, with 13 games left to secure survival in the Premier League.
Hughton has been installed as caretaker manager while Joe Kinnear recovers from heart surgery and having been assistant manager at 10 different clubs the former Tottenham player believes he can keep Newcastle up.
"This is the biggest challenge I've faced. You put pressure on yourself because you desperately want to get results, you want this team to be winning football matches," said Hughton.
"That's my responsibility for the time being and that's the pressure you put yourself under. I've had experience of being in this position before so I'm quite capable and confident of coping."
Newcastle have a difficult run of fixtures coming up, however, starting with high-fliers Everton at home on Sunday, with current Premier League leaders Manchester United and Arsenal also set to visit St James' Park in March.
Punters looking to take advantage of their £10 free bet may fancy backing Newcastle to beat the drop despite the turmoil still surrounding the club.
