Hughton coy on defender bid
Newcastle United, 13:02, February 22, 2010 ,
Newcastle are set to welcome back Jose Enrique but Chris Hughton could still extend the loan of Patrick van Aanholt.
Enrique has been missing from the Newcastle squad with a hamstring problem and Dutch youngster van Aanholt has slotted in well after being drafted in as cover from Chelsea.
However with Enrique returning and Van Aanholt's loan due to expire shortly, Hughton has a decision to make, but has not ruled out keeping the Blues youngster.
"We're hoping José will start training on Monday," Hughton revealed. "Patrick has two more games left. We have to make a decision about Patrick, it's not as simple as José coming back and him going. Officially, his loan period finishes after Watford.
"We haven't spoken to Chelsea about the loan situation yet, we've just spoken to them about his game and his performances. We will make decisions over the next week on how we address that situation.
"The loan period is for a month, but it can be extended. We haven't spoken to Chelsea yet though, so we don't want to jump the gun. We'll assess that after the game this weekend."
