Hughton to splash cash

Newcastle United, 16:46, October 28, 2009

Chris Hughton will get some of the £20m cash injection to spend on new players after being confirmed as Newcastle boss.

Mike Ashley has taken the Magpies off the market and has vowed to plough £20million of his own personal fortune into the club after also confirming that Hughton will be handed the manager's job on a permanent basis.
Hughton will now finally get the chance to strengthen his squad with permanent signings when the transfer window opens in January, while some of the cash will also be used to improve the club's scouting network.
Hughton will decide which players he would like to bring in and he has been given the full support of the Magpies board.
Managing director Derek Llambias said: "We are delighted that Chris has accepted the post of full time manager. He has done a terrific job this season and we wish him every success for the rest of this season and beyond.
"He will continue to receive our full backing and support."
