I'm ready for Toon action - Abeid
Teenager Mehdi Abeid has told Newcastle boss Alan Pardew he is ready to step into the heat of Premier League battle.
The 19-year-old midfielder has had to remain patient so far this season after been recruited from French side Lens during the summer to the club's development squad.
However, his form has impressed Pardew so much that he has forced himself to the fringes of the senior set-up and could find himself involved in Wednesday night's league clash with West Brom.
If that proves to be the case, Abeid insists he is ready for the challenge, saying: "Yes, sure, I am ready. I feel good. My fitness is good, I really feel very, very good and if the coach needs me, I will be here for the team.
"Every player wants to play in the Premier League and it's my wish too, to play for the first team.
"Now I am waiting and when the gaffer gives me the chance, I will answer him and I will be here for the team."
