Kinnear turned off by targets
Newcastle United, 08:58, November 27, 2008 ,
Joe Kinnear says he will not waste any more time attempting to bring Alexandre Song and Johan Djourou to Newcastle from Arsenal.
The St James' Park interim manager had hoped to make contact with Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger to sound out their availability in the January transfer window.
Song and Djourou are unlikely to be allowed to leave the Emirates in any event because of Arsenal's progress in the Carling Cup and Champions League.
"I was looking at both Alexandre Song and Johan Djourou," Kinnear told the Guardian. "However, I notice both played for Arsenal against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night, so I know I was wasting my time thinking about these two on loan.'
Kinnear has also admitted to watching Stephen Warnock and Christopher Samba of Blackburn, but does not expect to have the funds to attract them to Tyneside.
