Larsson wants quit Blues

Newcastle United, 17:37, August 9, 2008 ,

Newcastle will be alerted by Sebastian Larsson telling Birmingham City he wants to leave St Andrews in search of Premiership football.

The Swedish international midfielder is also an apparent target for Premier League rivals Blackburn and Bolton who will also be on alert after the player's latest comments.
It would seem the former Arsenal player is unwilling to spend the 2008/09 season in the Championship and has pleaded with Blues' boss Alex McLeish to let him move on.
Larsson told Swedeish sports paper Sportbladet: "I want to play at the highest level,
"I hope it will be resolved. There are three weeks left of the transfer window.
"I have got a new contract proposal from Birmingham, but I am not interested in that.
"I have got two years left on my current deal. I am not the kind of player who creates a lot of trouble.
"But somewhere there has to be some respect between the club and the player. Of course it would be better if I played in the Premier League."
The comments will come as a disappointment to McLeish, who had hoped to keep hold of the talented playmaker.
