Lille set defender price
Newcastle have been told to increase their offer for Mathieu Debuchy, while Ricardo Carvalho is being linked with a shock move.
The Magpies have this week completed the signing of Australian defender Curtis Good from Melbourne Heart, but Alan Pardew is in the hunt for more high-profile signings and has so far failed to land his top targets.
The Debuchy transfer continues to drag on and now reports in France claim that Lille have rejected Newcastle's bid of 6million euros and are holding out for 8million plus add ons.
Debuchy is keen to complete a move but Newcastle are struggling to agree the fee and that could allow Inter Milan to nip in after the Italian giants also declared an interest, while Chelsea have also been linked.
Meanwhile, the Magpies are also being linked with a shock move for former Chelsea star Carvalho, who has been told he is free to leave Real Madrid this summer.
The Portuguese international may be 34 but Pardew may think he has another couple of years left in him at the highest level and a return to England could be on the cards.
