Magpies ace urges Shearer to stay
Newcastle United, 13:04, May 28, 2009 ,
Defender Steven Taylor has urged Alan Shearer to sign the four-year contract offer believed to be on the table at St James' Park.
Shearer has been locked in talks with owner Mike Ashley and managing director Derek Llambias as the Magpies look to put the right coaching structure in place to bounce straight back into the Premier League following relegation.
And England Under-21 Taylor is desperate to see Shearer continue as boss on a full-time basis in the Championship next season.
"The club means so much to him," Taylor told the Echo. "The fans love him and he was hurt, like we were.
"He has been unbelievable. The only one person who I think can take us back up is Alan. He has been fantastic to work with. Let's hope we get the chance to work with him again."
Taylor has already pledged his future to Newcastle's cause in the second tier.
