Magpies boss refuses to celebrate just yet

Newcastle United, 12:49, March 18, 2010 ,

Boss Chris Hughton has urged caution despite seeing Newcastle take another step closer to promotion against Scunthorpe on Wednesday.

Two goals from Andy Carroll and a third from Peter Lovenkrands ensured the Magpies ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over their struggling opponents at St James' Park.
Hughton's side are now 12 points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest with a game in hand and know that another five wins from their last ten matches will see them gain an immediate return to the Premier League but Hughton insists plenty of hard work still lies ahead.
The Toon manager said: "It's a wonderful position that we have worked hard to get into but it won't be difficult to keep everyone's feet on the ground.
"We always knew the most important gap was between first and third, and we have worked hard to be able to do that.
"With the staff we have got and the playing staff we have got, I don't see that being a difficulty, bringing them back down to earth.
"It's probably understandable that people outside the club and maybe supporters will think that, but it won't be a difficult job with this group of lads."
