Magpies sweat on Smith's comeback bid

Newcastle will hope Alan Smith comes through his return from a five-month injury lay-off against Man City reserves with no problems.
The 28-year-old suffered an ankle injury during pre-season and has not featured for the first-team at all so far this term.
However, following his return to training last week, boss Joe Kinnear has decided to hand him a run-out in Richard Money's second string side for the game against City at Conference North side Hyde United's Ewen Fields ground on Tuesday.
If Smith comes through the game with flying colours then Kinnear will no doubt look at getting the former Manchester United forward back in his first-team plans as quickly as possible to boost his injury-hit squad.
