Midfielder move on cards
Newcastle United, 15:00, January 14, 2009 ,
Former Newcastle skipper Geremi is poised to join Besiktas in a £1.5m deal after leaving the field to a chorus of boos on Saturday.
The Cameroon international midfielder is ready to quit St James' Park after he was booed by some home supporters during the 2-2 draw with West Ham.
Geremi was furious at the fans' reaction to him being substituted during the game and looks set to return to Turkey in the transfer window.
Most of the jeers were thought to be aimed at wantaway substitute Charles N'Zogbia, who is working overtime to get a move from Tyneside, but Geremi had a bad game and did not like the reaction.
The ex-Chelsea and Middlesbrough midfielder, who has made just eight Premier League starts this season, has been ruled out of tonight's FA Cup replay with Hull City with an illness.
Reports claim Newcastle would be happy to see him move on because it would save the club £4million in wages over the remainder of his contract.
