Newcastle United are believed to have won the race for free agent Dan Gosling following his shock exit from Everton.
The 20-year-old left the Toffees this summer after it was deemed he was not contracted to the club despite verbally agreeing terms.
Sunderland and West Ham have both expressed an interest in the midfielder but reports are emerging claiming the Magpies have pipped them both to his signature.
The former Plymouth youngster is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Premier League new boys, becoming Chris Hughton's second summer signing behind James Perch.
