Newcastle need quick results - Hughton
Newcastle United, 14:04, March 22, 2009 ,
Caretaker Newcastle boss Chris Hughton says he expects the club to be in a 'dogfight' to save themselves from the drop this season.
Hughton has been in charge of the Toon since Joe Kinnear was taken ill in February and watched his side slip in to the relegation zone with defeat against Arsenal on Saturday.
Newcastle face a difficult run-in as well with games against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham away from St James Park to come as well as three potential six pointers against Stoke, Middlesbrough and Portsmouth.
Hughton believes Newcastle now need to get results quickly if they are to avoid the drop, beginning with the visit of Chelsea after the international break in two weeks.
"I accept it's going to be a dogfight through to the end of the season," Hughton told the BBC.
"We are well aware of the position - we have eight games left.
"We need to get enough results to stay in this division and we need to get results quickly."
