Nolan wants a "solid" Newcastle
Newcastle United, 15:18, November 24, 2010 , | 1 Comment
Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan insists his side need to become harder to beat if they are to enjoy success in the Premier League.
The midfielder feels picking up points is more important than playing free-flowing and entertaining football and Nolan is keen to help Newcastle become a "solid" side.
"It doesn't say because we're Newcastle United we have to play 4-4-2 because we've been an exciting team down the years," Nolan told the Chronicle.
"We've tried to get away from that. We're trying to make a much more solid Newcastle United.
"We're not saying we're going to be better, but, hopefully, in three or four years' time, we'll see a progression. Hopefully, we'll see a progression from two years ago, when we were playing flowing football and getting beat doing it. We did that a lot when I first came - we were quite open, and weren't solid."

Erm ! just what is meant by "solid" ?
If it means playing BSA ball, then perhaps we can arrange for his transfer to Blackburn and back to route one.
Look football is show business, entertainment, sure it`s nice to come away with a win, but given the choice of watching a highly disciplined side that scores mainly from set pieces and where any kind of flair is discouraged as opposed to an attacking side with plenty of flair.
Well i know which of the two i prefer to watch.
Sorry Kev., think you picked the wrong club and fans to advocate that kinda game too!
