Pilgrims now in Hughton's sights
Newcastle United, 12:34, September 17, 2009 ,
Newcastle boss Chris Hughton had no complaints with the 2-1 defeat at Blackpool after admitting the Magpies were second best.
The St James' Park outfit's six-game winning run came to a halt at Bloomfield Road on Wednesday night despite Andy Carroll opening the scoring on 40 minutes.
The Seasiders equalised through Brett Ormerod on the stroke of half-time before Jason Euell grabbed what turned out to be the eventual winner on 65 minutes.
And Hughton felt it was probably the right result over the 90 minutes despite creating chances to snatch a point.
The caretaker manager said: "I am bitterly disappointed, Blackpool were better than us in every department, especially in the first half.
"We need to regroup quickly as we have another big game at the weekend."
Newcastle have the perfect chance to bounce back on Saturday when rock-bottom Plymouth make the trip to Tyneside.
