Saints deal dismissed

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has denied reports suggesting he is in the hunt to sign Southampton striker Rickie Lambert.
Lambert has been a revelation for Saints this season when banging in 17 goals already and his form has not gone unnoticed at St James' Park where Hughton is an admirer.
The 27-year-old has been mentioned as an alternative should Newcastle fail to land Jermaine Beckford from Leeds, but Hughton says he is not interested.
"We aren't looking to bring Rickie here," Hughton told the Chronicle. "He is a very good player and one who is doing well this season, like he did last, but not one we are looking at."
