Target man heading to St James'

Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood is closing in on a switch to Newcastle United according to his agent.

The big frontman was close to a switch to St James' Park during the summer transfer window but a foot-injury scuppered the move.
However, Harewood is now fit and seeking first-team action, with his agent Phil Sproson stating the forward could seal a switch to Newcastle by the end of the week.
Sproson said: "I believe we are close to agreeing everything and hopefully the move can be finalised later this week,"
"Talks are ongoing between both clubs and I think they are keen to get it resolved.
"Marlon is back to fitness now and he is ready and raring to go.
"Marlon is very keen on going to Newcastle and playing regular first-team football again."
Caretaker Newcastle boss Chris Hughton is keen to add another striker to his ranks following the loss of Shola Ameobi to a long-term injury.
