Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has confirmed Cheik Tiote has been ruled out of Monday night's Everton game through injury.
The midfielder has not figured since the opening day of the season when he picked up a calf injury and Pardew has revealed he will sit out again at Goodison Park. Tiote is making good progress from the injury but Pardew is taking no risks and wants to make sure the player is 100 percent fit when he returns to the side. "He won't play on Monday night," Pardew revealed. "But he's a lot better, and he's got a good chance for Norwich we think. You're talking about one of the top Premier League players in my opinion. "In my view, he's one of the top 10 Premier League midfielders, and it's a big hole for us. But we have a lot of good players still haven't been seen at this football club yet."
