Toffees target Newcastle outcast

Newcastle United, 14:50, August 10, 2008 ,

Everton boss David Moyes is still keen on bringing in Alan Smith despite Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan saying the player is not for sale.

Moyes has so far been frustrated in his attempts to strengthen over the summer but reports suggest he's held productive talks with Newcastle over a move for former Leeds and Manchester United ace Smith.
Newcastle are believed to be willing to accept a knock down price of £2million for Smith, only a year after he made the move to St James Park for £6million.
The move has come about after the Toffees attempts to land Joao Moutinho from Sporting Lisbon's had been thwarted by the Portuguese side's £18million asking price.
