Toon close to defender deal

Newcastle are closing in on the signing of versatile Deportivo La Coruna defender Fabricio Coloccini who is said to be on Tyneside.
The deal to land the Argentinian international looked set to fall through after his club hiked their asking price, but it appears a near-£10m transfer is set to go through providing there are no problems with his medical.
Coloccini is desperate to try his luck in the Premier League so personal terms will not be a problem as the Magpies look to bolster their backline.
Midfielder Geremi admits Kevin Keegan needs to add to his squad before the start of the season against Manchester United.
The Cameroon ace told The Sun: "We don't have enough players.
"We hope we are going to get more next week."
