Toon close to Shearer deal
Newcastle United, 14:42, May 27, 2009 ,
Alan Shearer is in a second day of talks with the Newcastle owners and is believed to be close to agreeing a four-year contract.
The Magpies legend spent nine hours at the club's training ground on Tuesday as he held negotiations with Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias, leaving at 9.15pm and giving a thumbs up to the waiting press.
Llambias left an hour later and insisted that nothing had yet been agreed, but Shearer was back into the training HQ at Benton before 8am on Wednesday and wants the situation resolving as soon as possible.
It's believed Shearer wants assurances over transfer funds and how the club will run before he commits, with the former England star keen to continue after his original eight-game stint in charge.
