Newcastle have been linked with a move for Watford's freescoring midfielder John Joe O'Toole in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has reportedly made an impression on Newcastle's scouts following a series of star performances for the Hornets so far this season.
The Repubic of Ireland under-21 international has hit seven goals in 12 games for Watford this term and appears to have a big future in the game, with several Premier League sides monitoring his progress.
Newcastle will be hoping to have a permanent manager in place by the new year in a bid to bring some stability to the club and persuade talented players, like O'Toole, their future lies at St James' Park.
Reports suggest Watford are looking for at least £1million for the midfielder although that price tag could rise if he continues to perform well for them in the Championship over the next few months.
